We are the KÜSÜK team. Our name is the abbreviation of the Turkish phrase “Koç Üniversitesi Sürdürülebilirlik Komitesi” (“Koc University Sustainability Committee”).

KÜSÜK sounds like küskün in Turkish (losely translated as resentful). We are not küskün and we are not resentful! To the contrary, we are proud and hopeful. We are proud, because there are many great things happening at KU in various domains of sustainability. We are hopeful, because we know more can be done.

We are a voluntary group of academics, administrators, and students who formed this self-appointed and self-managed team to document and promote sustainability efforts at KU. This webpage documents various sustainability efforts in research, teaching, student activities and administration at KU. If you don’t find yourself in this webpage and if you want your efforts to be shared with others, please contact us! We want to be as inclusive as possible.

Incidentally, according to the dictionary of words in Turkish, küsük means a simple steal lever to carry weight. It is our sincere hope that our simple efforts will be a leverage to build networks and connections among people.
